Maryland Priest Thrown Under the Bus by Cardinal

Up the road, in the Archdiocese of Washington, Rev. Marcel Guarnizo of Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland, has been publicly humiliated by Cardinal Donald Wuerl for discreetly denying communion to a woman who had just announced before mass that she was a lesbian and made a point of introducing her lover to the priest in the sacristy. The priest has been the subject of a torrent of invective from readers of the Washington Post, which sent one of its bloggers to hunt down the cleric. The cardinal, through a functionary, quickly apologized for the errant priest’s violation of “policy.”
